MARCH MADNESS!

Apologies for taking so long to get this blog post done.  I seem to be the queen of procrastination!

We had some special visitors to our meeting - the New Year's Baby (from Grandview I think), and her family.  No pictures, but what a little sweetie.  She was presented with one of our baby quilt.  Again I apologize because I forgot to get a picture of the quilt. (I'm not very good at this, am I?)

Moving, on we finished a comfort quilt, to be given to a family who have lost their home to a fire.  It was pieced at our last meeting, consisting of Bento Box blocks.  Karen took it home and quilted it, and Donalda  put the binding on it.

This lovely piece, called "Migrating Geese" was made by Gail.  A few years ago, we attended a workshop in Brandon where this was being taught by Marge Moore.  It was a very ambitious project, and I'm not sure how many have been finished.  This is just gorgeous, I love the colours.

Next up is Brenda P.'s "Dick and Jane" quilt.  I'm sure this brings back lots of childhood memories for a lot of us. Lots of fun.

A sweet little baby quilt made by Sherry K.  Some lucky little person is going to love this.  This was made using up some of the guild fabric.

Eleanor made this very elegant table runner.  I think this was made using a border print fabric - it makes a very striking effect.

Another table runner, this one was made by Sherry K. using hand dyed fabric.  This is so very bright and cheerful!  I love it!

A flannel rag quilt - it's so warm and inviting looking.  I just want to cuddle up underneath it. Velma made this lovely little piece.

I made this little Easter post card on my embroidery machine.  This will be sent to my MIL who is in a care home, and cannot have visitors with all that is going on around us. So I hope that this will put a smile on her face and let her know that we're thinking about her.

And last but certainly not least, this little wall hanging was made by Debbie.  It just screams "Spring!" to me.  Now if the weather would just follow suit.

With all that is going on around us with the Covid-19 virus, I don't know when the next blog will be posted.  But having said that, I hope everyone keeps well and safe, and keep creating your beautiful quilts, and we will catch it all up when we can.  Take care everyone.

February Stragglers

This will be a very short post, but we had a few more February finishes that need to be recognized.

Karen made this cute snowman wall hanging.  I missed the meeting, but it looks like she has embellished it with lots of fun Christmas lights and buttons.  This will make a very cheerful addition to any Christmas decor.

Here is another "Storm at Sea" quilt, this one made by Brenda.  I think it's called "Forever Hearts". Such vibrant colours make this quilt sing. Don't you just want to curl up underneath this for a lovely nap?

And Janice has been busy making tea towels.  I think she needs to make us all a set, don't you?  We can always use new tea towels!

That's all I have for this time, but hopefully next time we shall have some more eye candy to drool over.  Ta ta till then....

February Happenings

This is my first foray into "Blogger Land", so bear with me as I fumble my way through to posting a blog. Hopefully I will do Gail proud.

I will first apologize for having forgotten who created some of these masterpieces, but I have reached that age where I seem to have some "slippage", as some of us are calling our forgetfulness.  Also just a note to mention that these pictures will all be taken with my phone, so they are not of the best quality.

This lovely quilt was made by Bonnie K and is a real stunner.  I believe it is called Stained Glass.

This tablerunner was made be Debbie, using all selvage edge scraps. I think it turned out beautiful.

These placemats were made by Velma, and they turned out just gorgeous.

This little piece was made by Gail.  It is the result of the "landscape" workshop that was held a few months ago, and this turned out just like a photograph!

This wonderful piece was made by Bev, using a lovely floral print that she was gifted.

Here is my "Hillary Hedgehog".  This was a kit that I purchased while on a quilting shop-hop in Minnesota last summer.

This snowman was another kit that I bought quite a few years ago in Paducah.  The top was done and was percolating on my waiting-to-quilt pile for a few years.

This piece is a Storm at Sea pattern, and I'm going to make a guess that it was made by Karen, but if I'm wrong, I apologize, and maybe someone can correct me, and I will make an amendment.

Now here is where I really can't remember who made these pieces, but they turned out so lovely.

Another case of "I can't remember"!  But I love this bag.

And last but not least is this wonderful little piece made by Donelda.  These little guys are so cute.

A New Year Begins....

A New Year Begins...…….

Good afternoon everyone.  It has been a long time since I have put pen to paper to update our blog.  I think a little “how to blog course” is due for me in the future. 🙂 Gloria Nicholson has offered to take over this job for us.  Thank You Gloria! It make take a little time to get things set up for her to take over. Therefore, I will try to post a few things from the year past.

This is Brenda’s portrait from our Valerie Wilson Portraits in Nature workshop.
