December Memories

Hi All! You have probably noticed I have been tardy with my posts lately.  So, I thought I had better get cracking and post our December projects before the New Year.  We had our Christmas Pot Luck at sew day in December.  What a wonderful day it was.  We had an abundance of food in every flavour you can imagine. The gift exchange was lots of fun with the participants taking home some new goodies. It was nice to see some of our old timers out for the celebration.  Before we go to the bench, I would like to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and the Best in the New Year.

From the Bench..........

Brenda's quilt is beautiful with soft tones of browns and tans. What a treasure!

Cathy did a fantastic job of her table runner.  She had picked up the kit at the Saskatoon Quilt Show earlier this year.  It is almost too nice to give away.

Debbie has been busy quilting up a storm. This beauty if for her daughter who picked out all the fabrics herself. A wonderful collection of fun prints sewn up into a beautiful keepsake.

Debbie also found time to create this one for her son. Wow, breathtaking isn't it! This quilt is sure to be a family heirloom.

Eleanor showed us her assortment of hot mats that she has made up for Chirstmas gifts. You can never have too many hot mats and mug rugs.

Janice pieced and quilted her table runner herself, but did have a bit of help sewing on the binding. Looks very nice doesn't it Donalda!

Janice whipped up another runner for the Christmas Season.  This one will surely dress up any holiday table.

Once again, Karen provided another eye-popper of a quilt.  Karen is amazing at picking out colours and patterns that bring out the best in any little piece of fabric. What gorgeous eye candy!

Vicky's table topper is just the right size to adorn her table. Or maybe she will be gifting it this Christmas??  Thanks for sharing with us Vicky!

Sylvia's award winning quilt is amazing! Sylvia hand appliqued and machine embroidered the quilting motifs on this beautiful quilt. This is only a small portion of the quilt. It is way nicer and more spectacular to see in real life.  A keeper for sure!

November 8th Sew Day

Snow has arrived! I am happy to report that she didn't keep anyone from getting together on our November 8th sew day. We had a full house! The gals reported the Saskatoon Quilt Show turned out to be a really fun time. What a great bunch of gals (and 1 guy) to take on a road trip! Thanks So Much to Nolan for driving us crazy ladies! Great company, great quilts and great vendors! What more could a gal ask for?  Maybe a little of our own eye candy............

From the Bench.........

This is Cathy's first completed top. Isn't it beautiful! Well done Cathy!

One of two comfort quilts. This is called the 10 minute block. Last sew day everyone brought some blue fabric from their stash. Together, we cut, pieced and pressed the fabrics into 2 quilts for a couple our members. Thanks to Karen and Lori for quilting them for us so we could gift them this sew day.

This beautiful runner belongs to Debbie. Her bargello items are truly stunning!
Your colour choices are dancing Debbie!

Eleanor has been busy making Christmas mats.  The designs bring back many happy memories of Christmas past!

This is Gail's Stack and Wack - One Block Wonder. I learned this technique at a workshop put on by Cindy Hamilton in Dauphin. The original fabric was large yellow Christmas trees on a black background. It sure doesn't look like Christmas trees anymore! Pretty neat technique!

Gloria was gifted this quilt top. She worked her longarm quilting machine magic and turned it into a beautiful queen sized quilt.  Wouldn't it be nice to snuggle up under this one?

We always look forward to seeing Sherry's mats.  She has a talent for taking from her stash, adding a little new and turning out masterpieces.  And her quilting techniques are always amazing!

Velma your strip quilt is fabulous!  The colours in this one were so bright and happy! Velma says it is a piece-as-you-go technique, so the sandwich and quilting are done at the same time as you do the piecing.  Lovely! I think I might have to get out my scraps!

 Till the next time...............................................
